Isn't it just magical when your hard drive fails during backup?
Damn Dell.
It's been a very difficult week, on Saturday the 23rd of September, my Nana passed away, she was 74.
My Nana has always been a very prominent and important part of my life, as a second mother and as a confidant. She was the only person in my family I really felt I could talk to about anything and now that she's gone, I feel very lost.
She was an amazing woman, always thinking of others before herself and was a parent to not just my brother and myself but to our friends and to all that knew her, always ready for with a sympathetic ear and willing to stand up to all kinds of bullies on your behalf.
I'm really going to miss you Nana. My last words to you still hold true, I love you.
I also want to say thank you to my family, my Mum and Dad for being so strong, my cousins Jennifer, Veronica and Donna for helping us through this tough time and to my Uncle John for being there for his brother, my Granddad who's been a pillar of strength during this time.
Finally to Dan and Maria, who I can honestly say are the best friends I could ever have both have been there for me this week when I needed them most, Dan getting in trouble for taking time off work and Maria travelling 4 hours from Aberdeen to support me. You're both the greatest.
Yesterday night was the clerks 2 uk premiere, Kevin Smith was there as you can see from this blurry cam shot, with Maria's head partially in the way.
The film was brilliant, I really think it's one of his best, easily up there with Clerks and Chasing Amy. Where Clerks was a reflective of being in your 20s and having your life going no where, the sequel is what happens if that's still true a decade later.
The conclusion of the film was actually kinda surprising in how logical it was, but also stayed very true to the characters and maybe a little bittersweet in reflection.
Great film, fucking hilarious and highly recommended.
The Q and A with Kevin Smith was awesome, he's a fantastic public speaker, had me laughing my ass off.
All this plus the company for the screening I was in was particularly awesome, big group of my friends, including ones who hadn't met before, brilliant night.
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
If I'm at home, coffee, nescafe mostly with a lotta milk. Work wise I'll hit Starbucks (I know 'booo'), for either a latte or a white-chocolate mocha, depending on how much I needs a sugar fix in the morning.
I really should start drinking better coffee but time is not my friend and I get up early enough for work as it is...
So I saw this film last night at the Edinburgh Film Festival Gala Premiere, and I just loved the entire film.
The frustration the protagonist felt at art school, coming up against people who are maybe a little too open minded about good art seemed very real to me, I was getting pissed off along with the character as a crayon scribble gets commended for it's "humanity" in comparison to his piece that took time and effort.
The jokes were spot on, the bits with the film major, wonderfully played by Ethan Suplee, had my film
student buddy laughing his ass off.
Fantastic film, I highly recommend it.
Plus Sophia Myles is v.hot.
Mini post about an awesome resturant here in Edinburgh that I had lunch in the other day, the Meadowood Cafe.
It's an asian cuisine cafe, the food and drinks are fantastic, as are the portions, I had a huge Pork and Mushroom with udon soup for only 5quid. Very nice atmosphere and staff too, I highly recommend it if you're in edinburgh. It's located on Bread Street, just off Lothian Road.
Well as one is born every half second I thought one more wouldn't hurt the series of tubes.
